About Memo's Journey

August 12, 2025.

Wow, so my life was pretty much normal. I was having a great summer 2025. Mom's health was doing was better, Michael and I had a couple of big pool parties, and life was looking optimistic. We had also planned a trip to Spain for in September.  We were happy as we could be.

Then, in the beginning of August, Mom's health took a turn and she had to be rushed by ambulance to the emergency room.  The same day, I was called and told by my doctor that an MRI on my pelvis bone found a large mass which they believed to be cancer. A particularly aggressive blood cancer they called "multiple myeloma".

On August 12, 2025, Kaiser returned mom to my home where she would be placed into hospice.  They believed she was entering the last phase of her life and we had to make preparations for end of life.   We were told she likely had weeks left to live.   On this same day i recieved a  diagnosis of an incurable cancer that would also one day likely take my life.  In one day, the life we once knew had changed forever.
